COMMITMENT & COMMUNICATION
Athletes and families are expected to update TeamSnap and follow through on their availability. Urban Elite will reevaluate a player's commitment after the 2nd unexcused absence. However, families are asked to assume the best intentions and if a player is not present it is most likely due to an important family or religious obligation, a secondary sport, or illness. Urban Elite will meet a multisport athlete where she is as long as the line of communication is clear. All players will be evaluated on their commitment to the team at the end of each summer season.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Urban Elite has the right to remove a player and/or family from the UE community due to creating an unhealthy environment, lack of commitment, or due to actions that are detrimental to the Urban Elite chemistry, brand, or reputation.
GOLDEN RULES FOR PARENTS
1) Limit or eliminate post game analysis. Spend time in the car asking about what is going on in other areas of her life. Car rides with mom and dad can either be an exhausting convo about lacrosse or they can be life changing – “Mom/Dad, one of my friends posted something that bothered me on social media and I’m not sure what to do.” You never know where car ride convos will take you…or her!
2) Release your daughter to the game. Allow all her successes to be HERS, allow all her failures to be HERS. The best place for a young girl to take risks is on the field!
3) Avoid criticism of the coach. Your daughter trusts you more than anyone. A negative comment about a coach can jeopardize that relationship and down the road coaches are often one of the first people a player will go to or listen to.
4) Zero Comparisons – Please avoid comparing your daughter to another player, specifically about talent, skill, or your perception of her commitment. More often than not, this will create resentment vs. motivation and can harm relationships between teammates.
5) If your daughter is having trouble with a coach, first advise her to approach the coach. If you feel this is too uncomfortable then reach out to the coach. If upset with a coach, please wait 48 hours before contacting.
6) Sideline etiquette - You must pick one of the following roles and stick to it at the game – Official, coach, or parent. Please do not directly address players or officials. Avoid all forms of communication that are in line with coaching (strategy, directing, etc.) or any form of intimidating language. We LOVE AND WELCOME cheering, support, and encouragement.
7) Love unconditionally and enjoy this game your daughter loves. Just remember the sports arena is the one place tweeners and teens want to see their parents…avoid giving them a reason to ever think differently!
